You don’t have to be a professional Sports Person to get a Sports Injury. In fact, the vast majority of the people who come to see us looking for answers are not elite athletes. They are people who enjoy doing their sport and use it as a way of keeping fit, socialising or just remaining active. It’s why the consequences of an injury can feel so devastating.
You may be tempted to rest, or just ignore your injury, hoping that it will go away. But, that is the worst thing that you could do. If you continue training, or playing whilst injured, you are probably making the injury worse, meaning that when you are eventually forced to stop because the pain is too bad, your recovery will be significantly longer.
You will start to lose confidence in your body, leading you to be hesitant when doing your sport, which means that you will perform worse, or possibly injuring yourself in multiple places.
Going to see the GP won’t help you either. They are not trained in Musculoskeletal Injuries and will do one of 2 things. They will either give you some painkillers and tell you to rest, or refer you to an NHS Physiotherapist, but they are overwhelmed and the waiting lists are long.
Your injury might even spill over into your personal or professional life, meaning that some of the everyday home or work tasks might become challenging due to the pain.
A trip to see your friendly Relive Physiotherapist will put you firmly on the road to recovery.
