Worried About Your Elbow Pain?

If I ignore it, it will pass! WRONG!

It’s nothing, I can manage. NO!

You’re in pain, your elbow is stiff or sore. It’s probably having a negative impact on your life. You can’t definitely not do things that you used to be able to do. The pain might even even be preventing you from sleeping at night or waking you

Will resting your elbow help ease the symptoms?

Will avoiding those painful activities help? NO!

What you are feeling in your elbow will probably get worse without the right sort of treatment. At best, the pain level will stay the same and the soreness and won’t go away. Every time you try to bend your arm or use it, you’ll be reminded that you have an injury.

Elbow pain is terrible as it can stop you doing simple everyday tasks. And a lot of the people that we see actually make it worse by doing the WRONG things. Want to work on the computer? No, it hurts! Make a cup of tea? No, can’t lift the cup properly. Clean your teeth? Too painful! The effect that this has on your mental wellbeing and self-confidence should not be underestimated. You become OVER cautious when living your life and eventually your elbow becomes weaker and even stiffer.

Elbow pain can be dreadful and it isn’t something anybody wants to live with. The people that come to see us at Relive Physiotherapy in Chester ask us:

To help you make the right decisions about taking care of your injury, we’ve prepared a short report where you can learn about the different conditions that might affect your elbow, such as Tennis Elbow, Golfer’s Elbow, Bursitis and many more.

REST can be good, but it might not be the best treatment. We can help!

There is so much information about elbows on the internet. Millions and millions of pages. Sadly, the majority of people who come to the Relive Physiotherapy Clinic in Chester to talk about their elbow injuries have either not found the right explanation or they have been given bad advice by somebody close to them. Whilst phrases such as ‘you’ll feel better with a bit of rest’, ‘it’s probably nothing a few days won’t fix’ or ‘I’d go to the Doctor to get some painkillers to make it better’ are well-meant, they won’t help your elbow condition. Days, weeks, months (and even years) can go by and NOTHING will have changed. In fact, the pain might even be worse than it was at the beginning. The advice you got hasn’t helped you – the painkillers made the pain go away for a while, but as soon as you stop them, the pain is back. It might have been nice to rest, but your elbow doesn’t feel any better. You’ve followed the advice you were given and it just hasn’t worked. You’ve been inactive or on painkillers for a while, but you might be in even worse shape than you were when this all started.

Do the right things. They will help. If you don’t, then elbow pain is going to be your constant companion. Getting ‘older’ doesn’t mean accepting the pain and bowing to the ‘inevitable’. The pain may have stopped you from being active or doing the activities that you love, such as sport, doing the garden, looking after your children (or grandchildren) or doing DIY, but you will be able to do them again with the right treatment.

Does That Sound Like YOU?

If you have an elbow injury and are in pain, then you don’t know who or what to believe about what is best for you. The information that you have found on the internet is contradictory and family and friends all have an opinion on what you should do. Very rarely are they medically trained, so despite the best of intentions, their advice won’t help. You are conflicted, you don’t know what to do, so you do NOTHING. And that is the worst thing. Elbow injuries can sometimes be caused by an impact or a sudden injury, but more often than not, they are the RESULT of poor care (not looking after them properly) and the EFFECT of making many repetitive movements.

Is This Happening To You Too?

Our experts at the Relive Physiotherapy Clinic in Chester can help your recovery, so you don’t have to suffer alone, nor in silence. Our clients tell us:

  • lineI thought the pain would go away by itself, but it DIDN’T
  • lineI’ve been told that everyone my AGE gets this, and I’ll just have to ‘Put Up With It’
  • lineI went to see my GP – they gave me painkillers and told me to rest. It felt better for a while, but as soon as I stopped taking the medication, my pain was back
  • lineI found some exercises on the internet, but they didn’t help, only made it worse
  • lineI went to see a massage therapist. It was nice and pleasant at first, but it didn’t fix my pain long term
  • lineI’ve been to see all manner of people and tried what they recommended but nothing they said or did seem to help

What Can I Do Now To Help Me With The Pain?

Making the right decision TODAY is the first step to treating your pain. You will feel better mentally, as if a burden has been lifted from your shoulders. Soon the pain that seems to have been there forever will be a dim and distant memory. It’s time to take back control and tackle that elbow pain.

Avoiding using your elbow for a long period of time will just add to the pain, soreness and stiffness that you are feeling. It’s totally the opposite of what you want to achieve. Resting the right amount can be a good thing in your recovery, but it isn’t always the right thing for the pain that you have. Keeping your elbow active is an important part of your recovery, so how better to do this than with exercises from your friendly Relive Physiotherapist?

People always underestimate how important exercises are in their recovery. Our Physiotherapists have been trained to give you the right exercises for YOUR recovery and in the right quantities. The exercises will always be simple to do, and the Relive Physiotherapist will show you how to do them and check you are doing them correctly to make sure that they really count.

People who get their exercises from the internet, are often disappointed. 90% of the exercises that they get from this source are either incorrectly done or not appropriate and often cause the pain and injury to worsen. Not all elbows and elbow injuries are the same, so any exercises you do should be given to you by a qualified professional.

You’ll start to feel better by following the 3 steps above. However, nothing beats the effect of ‘hands-on’ treatment. At Relive Physiotherapy, this is a method that you get as standard, every time. As people get used to doing things remotely from the comfort of their homes, we have seen this trend start to happen in Physiotherapy as well. Some Physiotherapists have started to give exercises and mobile consultations rather than ‘hands-on’ treatment. We believe that you DESERVE the best and this is often the quickest route to recovery. It delivers lasting results for YOUR injury. If you are having difficulties doing your hobby, working or even doing routine everyday tasks pain-free, then TODAY is the first day of your recovery. Call Relive Physiotherapy and we can make it happen!
